In logistics, the building determines how smoothly operations run. Growing volumes, just-in-time flows, the rise of e-commerce and multi-site rollouts all call for infrastructure that keeps pace with the business. Steel Shed for Business designs, engineers, manufactures and delivers steel buildings for storage, order picking and dispatch, whether new-build or extension. Every project is engineered around your flows, your handling equipment, your storage requirements and the constraints specific to your site.

A logistics hub is not a standard building. Every site has its own flows, volumes and requirements.
Ever-changing volumes and floor areas
Your storage requirements evolve with your business: volume growth, seasonality, new product lines, e-commerce peaks. We engineer your building for the way you operate today and can build in, from the design stage, provisions that make a future extension easier, subject to site and project constraints. Whether an industrial storage building, warehouse or logistics hub, the structural grid is based on your current volumes and your future growth plans.
Just-in-time flows and tight deadlines
Goods-in, storage, order picking and dispatch: each step has to follow on efficiently from the last. Working from the flow diagram and the zoning set out by your teams, we adapt the structural grid, clear spans, clearance heights and openings to support your logistics organisation and limit congestion points. Column-free clear spans let your handling equipment move freely, with no constraints on the racking layout.
Loading bays and dispatch areas engineered around your actual flows
Congestion on your existing bays, tighter delivery windows or the arrival of a new customer all mean rethinking the dispatch area before you extend storage. Dock height, number of bays, HGV manoeuvring area and the structural grid are all derived from your flows before manufacturing begins. Dock canopy, covered dispatch area, HGV access and interfaces with the existing structure are addressed in the same study. A loading-bay extension can be carried out while the site remains in operation, with a manufacturing sequence phased around your activity. Dock equipment (levellers, dock shelters, bumpers) is subject to a dedicated technical review based on your configuration.
Making the most of height and usable volume
Where the footprint can no longer expand due to land availability, planning restrictions or a confined site, capacity is gained vertically. A high-bay warehouse uses multi-level racking to increase storage density within the same footprint. Clear height under the truss is not a catalogue option: it is a design parameter. Our engineering team defines it from your storage method, your handling equipment and the technical clearances specified for the project. Column-free spans open up the racking layout and circulation.
Multi-site rollouts
Rolling out a coherent network of logistics hubs across several locations calls for controlled standardisation. Each site keeps its own constraints (land, HGV access, regulations and operating conditions) while drawing on a shared technical baseline. We coordinate the engineering, manufacturing and deliveries of your multi-site projects through a single dedicated contact.
Operational continuity
Extending a logistics building that stays in operation calls for careful preparation, so that the works have as little impact on the business as possible. Our engineering team anticipates the structural interfaces with the existing building, and we can phase the manufacturing schedule accordingly (phase 1 order, phase 2 order, and so on) to suit the arrangements agreed with the customer and the site contractors.
They trust us

Every project undergoes a full technical study. Our in-house engineering team designs the structure to the applicable Eurocodes, allowing for wind and snow loads and, where required, site-specific seismic actions. Clear heights, openings and interfaces with the loading bays and equipment are all accounted for, based on the technical data approved by the customer.
Design assumptions and drawings are approved before manufacturing begins, so that the structure as delivered matches the approved design. The relevant components are manufactured in accordance with the applicable CE marking requirements.
